We were outside yesterday and I was sitting on the sidewalk. David was telling me a story and I looked up at him and noticed this cool rainbow around the sun. He ran in and got the camera.

Wow!!! I've never seen anything like it. That is so neat. I think you should blow it up and frame it because the cloud is also spectacular. I'm going to have to look up this ring-around-the-sun rainbow becaues I LOVE it.
What a great picture. I had to look it up. It's a rare occurance and is caused by ice crystals within thin cirrus clouds. There are other pix on the Web, but I didn't see any with a cloud like yours. Gorgeous and thanks for sharing. Jean
