Eli is so sweet. This past few days have been tough because we've all been sick with one thing or another. He has thrush and the treatment is this dark purple stain called Gentian Violet. Originally the medicine was just inside his mouth but has migrated to the outside as a result of nursing. He also has a blocked tear duct which produces copious amounts of green goop. This in addition to some minor baby acne have conspired against his natural good looks. I took a picture to document it.

Both of Joselyn's eyes had blocked tear duvts until she was 3 months old AND she had some minor baby acne as well... it made us sad, because we felt like she was suffering. Her eyes got better after we learned a very specific technique of massaging her tear ducts. It was gone in like two days. I sure hope Eli gets better soon with his thrush... poor babies have deal with too much!!
Oh boy, that's rough looking. Hope you two are getting some sleeping time and that Eli is getting better. Jean
Jade!!! That was a hysterical write up. Poor baby. Poor you. Glad it's clearing up though. He's still beautiful. I kind of think violet is his color...
Jade, I am crying and laughing because I LOVE this post. It's so true. It's like, can we just shut the camera off until 3 months old? All of mine have had baby acne, crazy monkey hair, and red nursing rashes. Add that to the crossed eyes and the falling asleep eye flutter, and you're pretty sure your baby has some real problems. But they still smell like God's nectar.
Jade, I can't believe we are going through the exact same thing...Sam has had a clogged tear duct since birth, so is always goopy. We also have thrush, and I have resorted to baking soda wipes before going for gentian violet. My midwife said she can order the Newman's APO if I want it, so I may skip the violet all together. Charlie has a bad cold (maybe allergies), so I'm sure we will be having running noses soon too.
Hang in there! Eli is so cute with his purple mouth.
