In my quest for the perfect chocolate chip cookie, I came across this article. I recommend reading the whole thing, but if you don't, here are the main points:
1. All ingredients should be at room temperature.
2. Let the dough "rest" for 24-36 hours before cooking.
3. Salt is important. Add more to the dough, or sprinkle sea salt on before baking.
4. High quality chocolate improves the taste.

Next time you come over, let's make them! Love, dad
What?! Does this mean you are baking now? The power of food. I think the promise of glorious ecstasy for my taste buds is one of the reasons I love to cook.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm. Love every tip, esp. the sea salt. Must try. When are you going to make them Jade?

Your mum
Okay Jade, you do know you've opened a box that won't be resealed. We use sea salt most of the time and have everything else at the ready. If not, we know our way to town and know how to play fetch. Coming to WA soon? Jean
Now if I left the dough to rest for 1-2 days, there would be nothing left! Just you wait, you will see. Two little ones that love to help cook in the kitchen and be your tasters, you won't have anything left to bake!

K...I tried it. I must admit only half of the batter made it 24 hours. :) They were really yummy cookies. I always have the butter at room temp but I never thought to have the eggs at room temp too. I even sifted the flour. Great tips!!!!
Those cookies are making me hungry! Kate made some this weekend following your tips and they were mouth watering... I didn't taste them, but I think I gained a couple of pounds just smelling them :-)
Still on a quest for the perfect chocolate chip cookie? Eat one of Mike's--quest attained! (Yes, we are gratuitously buttering Mike up in the hopes that he bakes A LOT the next time we visit.)
