America is so awesome

Watching the Olympics has been so fun. As we were watching the men's gymnastics competition, Chelsea mentioned how it was cool that the US team has people from all over the world and that no other team could claim that. This is from an article in the NY Times:

"Walking through the Olympic Village the other day, here’s what struck me most: the Russian team all looks Russian; the African team all looks African; the Chinese team all looks Chinese; and the American team looks like all of them."

How true that is... and it's so funny because Adam and I were noticing the same thing!

I totally agree...I LOVE the diversity in America. I am so glad that Jen and I were able to come see you too. It was a lot of FUN. I can't believe how much I missed my boys. It wasn't that long of a trip!!! :) My email address is katherinemjackson@hotmail.com.

I'm glad you liked the cd! Music is a passion of mine and I love finding new things that I enjoy. Getting other people to hear new things is always a plus (and them liking them is COOL)!

I'm sad to see the Olympics end, where else can you see human potential at its best? I have to say though I am happy I'll be getting a little more sleep! Why do they have to put the good stuff on SO late!!

Thank you for making our trip SO fun! I hope we can get up there and see you all again before 6 years passes again! I'm sure you'll have awesome stories to tell with all your travel adventures!

I asked Chels to forward my email, but I guess I can just post it jennifer_fink@hotmail.com. Hope you have a great week! I'll see if I have any similar music you might like!

I was thinking the same thing the whole time the Olympics were on. It's just one more thing I love about this country. Thanks. Love the quote.

Wow, that gave me goosebumps to the core. How incredibly true. And though I have thought about that, what a way-through the Olympics-to bring that matter to the surface.

Yup, the American teams' ethnic diversity is so cool. Then again, it's always interesting to hear how many athletes, from other countries train here. America is great and I love it. Having lived close to the "Iron Curtain" in the '70's and being able to view the other side, life looked tough through the barred concertina wire or over cement/brick fences. Also, seeing the bullet pock marks on bridges or other solid structures, where the East German and Czechoslovakian guards, in the towers, had shot at people who tried to escape. That was an eye opener for me and really instilled my love of America. Jean

I love the post and all the comments. My feelings are too deep and too long, so I will just say that I so appreciate somewhere to look for true greatness (Olympics) in today's culture where most people have it wrong. I am so blessed and grateful.
