David's grandmother, Ruthie, passed away last Wednesday. It was unexpected in many ways. I've been wanting to write a post about it, but the hardest part is thinking that I would have to write in the past tense. Especially since I know she is still alive, just not here, with us.
The night before she passed, she had invited Ezra over. She had a bag of special ornaments for him, a "surprise", and he was so excited about it. I brought him over and he kept exclaiming, "A bird, " *gasp, "I yuv (love) a bird!" "A nest, I yuv a nest! Thanks Grandma Ruthie, thanks!" He was so happy and she was so happy. She looked beautiful and happy and energetic. We hugged her and then we went home.
The next morning, David told me that she had died and the first thing I thought of were the ornaments she'd given Ezra. She was always so thoughtful - in small and large ways. I can't help but think of all the things I wish I'd done. I didn't know my time with her would be so short. She was and is an incredible woman and has left a big hole in the hearts of all those who knew her. Grandma Ruthie, we will miss you - until we see you again.
Rachel has written this post about her. It has some beautiful pictures.
The funeral will be held at the LDS Church building on Walnut St. at 11:00am on Tuesday.

Jade, that's a really sweet post. Ruthie was really special.
I'm so, so, so sorry for your family's loss. I'm also so sorry that the weather prevented us from going to her funeral. I, of course, thought I would get to spend time with Ruthie again in this life, but time just got away from me. I will miss her.
