R.I.P., headphones

Hahahaha! I could not stop laughing when David pulled these out of his backpack. When we moved here we started out with at least 6 pairs of headphones. One by one they have disappeared and we've been desperately trying to hold on to this last set. The little rubber pieces that protect your ears from the harsh plastic disappeared long ago. But we'd been relying on these for awhile anyway. So it was with great sadness that David told me he SMASHED our last good pair of headphones. I don't know why this is so funny to me. It wouldn't be as funny if they just got lost, or even if someone else broke them. But the fact that David, the one person who has been coddling them and protecting them, accidentally squished them to bits had me laughing almost uncontrollably.
