I'm in Laos

Out of the blue, I got the opportunity to accompany the Thai and Lao teachers to visit their students in some remote villages in Khammuan and Bolikhamsai provinces for the next few days. My job is to take pictures of the students and villagers. How cool is that?

I have to admit though, that I almost cried this morning waiting for them to pick me up. A.) because David just got back and I miss him, B.) because I will really miss the kids - I haven't been away for longer than a day since my trip to Hawaii a few years ago and C.) because what if I do a terrible job? David's sacrificing while I go do this, and I'm putting my website work on hold (still working from my hotel room) for a few days and what if it's not worth it?

I hope it is.

Beautiful first market picture. Thanks for posting so quickly. We miss all of you so much and we are so proud of you and David for bringing this asian part of the world closer to us. It's a blessing to use your talents in such a way. I hope the time goes quickly until you are reunited with all of your darling boys.

Jade, you are so funny with your doubts. You are an AMAZING photographer, so there is no other option but for the pictures to be beautiful. I love the recent ones on your photography blog - that Thai woman is gorgeous in blue. I'm excited for you and think you are amazing.

I know that feeling. Sometimes, it's harder to go away then to be the one left behind, don't you think? The missing is harder when you're the one that's left, when you're not used to leaving. But as far as the photos, you'll do great. You really are an amazing photographer! I just want you to come back to the U.S.A. to photograph my kid(s). So remind me... when is that happening again?

Oh Jade! I know how you feel, it's so hard to leave the family-even if the adventure is down right amazing and you know is an opportunity of a lifetime. We'll be praying for you. And are you kidding, you'll whip out the mad skills. I have full faith in you babe!
