Third Day

One of my favorite places in CM is Doi Suthep. It is a Buddhist wat on top of a hill overlooking the city. Sister Redd and I used to get up early in the morning, catch a songthaew up to the top, watch the sunrise and then ride our bikes down (on our Preparation Days of course). This is a shot on the way to the foothills. Brother Daeng and Sister Doi took us.
David is standing in front of a stand that sells one of my favorite snacks - a banana wrapped inside a waffle with chocolate syrup drizzled over it.
A group of Thai students from the east saw Ezra and wanted to take a picture.
David actually had Ezra on his shoulders most of the time. I just wanted to switch with him so he could take a picture of me so I would look cool.
One of the rare pictures of all three of us...
Ezra goes crazy for dogs. David intervened just in time.
Ezra was so sad he couldn't play with the dog.
He ran around the temple three times, he was so happy to be free. Usually we have to be holding him or grabbing his hand because of cars, potholes filled with water, exposed wires, etc.

Sister Doi took him up front and he fell asleep in her lap.
The only sad thing for me about Chiang Mai is that Siriporn's not there anymore. She was a huge part of my mission and she died last year. Whenever I think of Chiang Mai I think of the road to her house. We stopped by and it was clear her mom wasn't there anymore. We talked to some neighbors who said we'd just missed her sister. One of her friends had joined the church after her and I knew she sold khaw soy (a noodle soup) nearby. I was nervous to see her, but David insisted that we drive by and see if she was there. To my surprise, she was. And to my even greater surprise, she had stayed active in the Church, even after Siriporn's death. It was really nice to see her.
That evening we went to Daeng and Doi's house for Family Home Evening. The Elders went too. For one of the Elders, it was his first time trying durian (a really gross smelling fruit that some people insist is delicious).

The night bazaar. Some guy said I was cute. I looked up when he said it and he was so embarrassed that I understood Thai. Haha! I love catching people.

Hey Jade,

Cool pictures. It seems like you guys are seeing everything out there and are having the best time. You and David and Ezra all have adorable smiles. I love all of your pictures.

did you notice the woman in the background going up the stairs behind Jade and Ezra? She is totally huffing it, and Jade has a baby on her shoulders and makes it look effortless!!
