Technically it was my fault since I gave Eli the keys to play with but I prefer to think of it as a joint mistake. Just as we were about to leave town to make the 1.5 hr. trek home, this happened:
To help you imagine the scenario, Steve is on the right, holding the flashlight, Ryan is in the middle taking a picture with his iPhone, I am on the left with the toothbrush, tapping the window and singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and David is to the left of me, busy making comments like, "Do they (AAA) know there's a baby stuck in the car?", "I just want to know exactly where they are right now."
In the end, it took only a couple of minutes for the AAA guy to break into our car. Eli hardly cried until the very end. So all in all, everything worked out surprisingly well. I still feel like a moron though.
Thank you AAA and thank you Steve for always being prepared!

Phew. All is well. That picture of Eli says it all. Good job Ryan for capturing the moment. Aunt Gayle locked Beau in the car as a baby in Tucson in the dead of summer. There was a crack in the window so she sprayed him with the hose while waiting for help to arrive. Beau was so appreciative, not only was he locked in his carseat in a hot car, but then his mother nearly drowned him with the hose...
What a great story, with a happy ending. Eli, you were a trooper and I love that "Technically" you were part of the lock up scenario. Also, loved your Mimi's comment about your Great Auntie's similar situation. At least no one had to spray you with water, with the possibility of turning you into a popcicle here in the NW.
Glad everything worked out. Did you happen to ask the AAA guy,"now exactly how did you do that?". Not that it would ever happen again. We've all been there....time to renew my AAA card. Doug
This is some very bad parenting.
Although I hate to admit this...I have been there too.
I'll have to share that story with you some time...
Hahahahahahaha. I love it. Makes for a good story and memory.
