My parents made their last payment on their house today. I am so proud of them. Especially because it wasn't easy - it came because of a lot of hard, consistent work. They have always said how they're not financial geniuses and been very humble about their abilities to manage money. But they have taught me more about sound financial practices than anything or anyone else in my life. They have taught me about hard work and efficiency, about how you wear things out or fix or mend them rather than buying incessantly. They taught me the value of taking care of things and the confidence that comes from earning your way. Thank you Mom and Dad for your excellent examples.
Mike and Chelsea took us all to Pizzacato to celebrate. (The zero signifies the number of payments they have left).

Congrats Doug and Peg on no more payments. It's an impressive accomplishment and a freedom you'll totally enjoy. Was there a burning the mortgage ceremony?
HURRAY!! So proud. And that picture turned out great!
